These terms govern your use of the SatarkScan Android application and this website. We have written them in plain English because there is nothing to hide. By downloading and using SatarkScan, you agree to these terms.

1. What SatarkScan Does

SatarkScan is a free Android application that analyses UPI QR codes on your device and produces a risk score based on pattern recognition. It uses a local fraud detection engine that checks signals such as VPA patterns, transaction amounts, keywords, and known scam identifiers. All analysis happens entirely on your device with no internet connection required.

2. What SatarkScan Does Not Do

It is important to understand the limitations of the app before relying on it:

• SatarkScan is not a fraud guarantee. A LOW RISK score does not mean a payment is safe. It means the QR code did not match the patterns our engine knows about at the time of analysis.
• SatarkScan cannot detect social engineering. If a scammer convinces you over a phone call to scan a QR code that appears clean, the app will not flag it. No offline QR scanner can. Always verify payments you did not initiate yourself.
• SatarkScan is not a bank or financial institution. The app does not process payments, hold funds, or have any relationship with your bank account.
• SatarkScan cannot recover lost money. If you are a victim of fraud, contact your bank and file a report on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.

3. Use at Your Own Discretion

SatarkScan provides risk indicators, not financial advice. The final decision to proceed with any payment is entirely yours. We strongly recommend that you:

• Never make large payments based solely on an app's risk score.
• Always verify the payee's identity through a separate, trusted channel before sending significant amounts.
• Be suspicious of any QR code shared with you via WhatsApp, SMS, or phone — regardless of what any app says.

4. Free to Use, Always

SatarkScan is free and will remain free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription tiers, and no premium features hidden behind a paywall. We do not display advertisements. We do not sell data because we do not collect any.

5. Intellectual Property

The SatarkScan name, logo, app design, and source code are the intellectual property of the developer. You may not copy, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the application without explicit written permission. The app is made available for personal, non-commercial use only.

6. No Warranty

SatarkScan is provided "as is" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantee that the fraud detection engine is complete, accurate, or up to date with the latest scam tactics. Fraud methods evolve, and no static on-device engine can catch every new variant.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Indian law, the developer shall not be liable for any financial loss, direct or indirect, arising from your use of or reliance on this application.

7. Updates to the App

We may update SatarkScan from time to time to improve the fraud detection engine, add language support, or fix bugs. Updates are distributed through the Google Play Store. We recommend keeping the app updated to benefit from the latest signal improvements.

8. Changes to These Terms

If we make meaningful changes to these terms — for example, if we introduce a new feature that changes how data is handled — we will update this page and clearly note the new effective date at the top. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from your use of SatarkScan shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Indian courts.
